well it depends what you want this laptop to do. various scenarios
Gaming – this rig wont cut it, the Intel x3100 is integrated graphics chip ( a chip placed on the motherboard not an actual graphics card) and is in no way prepared to keep up with current games.( this also applies if you want to edit video/photos using this computer)
Everyday use- This rig is more than enough, in fact cut the ram by 2 gigs ( saves some money) and you would still be fine with vista. I currently run vista with just one gig and it runs fine after i turned off the stupid programs. You could also downgrade the sound, that would save money as well.
Media Center- This rig would be perfect as well, since the hd sound would be excellent choice here, but again the ram could be cut down ( media will work perfectly with 2 gigs, ) and the sound would be great.
