Car Bluetooth Adapter

Should I use a USB to Bluetooth adapter or an RS-232 serial port to Bluetooth adapter?

I’m designing and building an RC Bluetooth car using a MSP430 microcontroller on a TI experimenter’s board. I just want to know if it would be easier/simpler software-wise to use a USB to Bluetooth or the 9 pin RS-232 to connect the Bluetooth adapter on the PC? I have basically zero experience with USB communications and only slightly more experience with RS232.
Datarate shouldn’t really be much of a determining factor in this situation because I may only need to send as little as 4 bits of data at a time. I meant more along the lines of the software needed to communicate with an RS

I do not know your CPU (MSP430), but most microcontrollers nowadays have a USB version integrated. (try Atmel 8051 series).
Most micros will work fine with RS232, although that means of communication if fast going out of fashion! So, designing for RS232 is working on “antiques” that won’t be there is a few years (new PCs do not even come with a COM port anymore!)
(It is a bit like developing a telephone with wire… while on the shelf, you have the latest 3G phone!)
