why wont my cordless keyboard work?

I have a netbook and i hate typing on the tiny keyboard so i bought a used logitech cordless keyboard.It has no usb to plug in the back, It came with no instructions so i put the batteries in the back, then pushed a red button that said “connect” on the bottom.Nothing happened so i went to my bluetooth setting’s and clicked “search for bluetooth connection” but it say’s error.Am i doing something wrong or do you think the keyboard is broken?

ur missing apart that goes with the keyboard… its a small usb stick that will go into your netbook to create a wireless connection with ur keyboard.. u will need that usb stick. without that they keyboard wont work.. its garbage without it.. if u have the stick plug it in to the usb port of ur netbook and then clik the connect button on ur keyboard and it should work fine.. or else return it and buy a new one
