I had high hopes for this device. It is very easy to pair with the PS3 and how advertising works in electronic form. However, it is embarrassing and difficult to use to obtain appropriate to hang in my ear, without falling. The microphone is very sensitive and if not silenced in the game I played all possible to hear my dog barking at the end of the house. I have to use the mute button when I wanted to speak and off to avoid unwanted environmental sounds to be transmitted. I wish the so-VOX microphone sound pick-up only when I speak. In general, this is a good piece of equipment and probably a better choice than some of the available wireless USB headset for PS3.

I’ve only used the PS3 headset with the PS3, so I can’t speak to its functionality with a cell phone or other device. It works great with the PS3. It is very easy to setup, if you know how to read, and easy to use. Everything sounds clear and it can be turned on during a game or at any other time and the PS3 recognizes it. Sometimes it takes the PS3 a minute to pick it up, but that’s the PS3, not the Blue Toof.

Best BT Headset for PS3. PERIOD!

The official Sony headset for the PS3 is by far the best one i’ve used. Especially, when paired with a game that can use its HQ (High Quality) mode. Basically the Headset has a step up on the PS3 from other headsets because it connects to the PS3 as an advanced headset enabling more options and improving overall quality of communication when compared to traditional Bluetooth headsets. I’ve tried the Jabra, Motorolla, even the Metal Gear Solid 4 headset along with many others and as I’ve said, none come close to this headset. 

The docking station is easy to charge with, the unit has great range, and also works as a standard headset with all other devices! 
If you have a ps3, and want a headset for anything at all, get this one. I use it on multiple PC’s for skype, on my cell phone, and of course my PS3. Oh and pairing it with a ps3 is as simple as plugging it in. LITERALLY.

Expensive but totally worth it

This is definitely the best headset you can get for the PS3, not only because it has amazing sound quality and battery life but because it gives you unique features specific to this headset. Tapping the power button brings a notification in the top right of your screen that shows how much battery life you have left in the headset. 
It also comes with a dock then when plugged in, changes automatically to a speakerphone mode. Basically it routes the audio to the tv speakers but still lets you use the headset as your mic. very nifty. I also use it with my phone as a regular headset and it works great.

I bought this for and use it with Tom Clancys EndWar. It works as advertised. It has to be charged out of the box. Charging takes about 3 hours. It has a stand you can plug it into then you plug your USB cable into the stand and the PS3. Turn on the PS3 and charging begins. The outer edge of the mute button will flash red off and on as it is charging. 

To use it with the game you have to pair it to the PS3 console. It comes with a six inch USB cable that you plug into the unit and the PS3 wait for the charging light to flash steady red then it is paired. At that point you can turn the unit on by holding down the power button. It will flash green a couple times to indicate it is on. To turn it off you hold the power button down until the green light does a series of flashes then stops. 

With the game the unit works well most of the time. It it doesn’t work at all try pairing it again. When you use it to interact to the game it orders are understood 90% of the time. Sometimes you may have to repeat orders. Sometimes the wrong unit will respond to the orders, most of the reviews I’ve read say as much. It gets the job done. Overall I give it four stars.

I purchased this headset after hearing from other people about problems pairing third party bluetooth headsets with the PS3. It didn’t disappoint… To this point, I have only used it for Call of Duty, but I have logged quite a few hours with it now. It was easy to setup, and because it is made by Sony specifically for the PS3, they function together seamlessly. While other reviewers have complained about how the earpiece doesn’t fit entirely in your ear, I think this complaint is misplaced. It’s not meant to be jammed into your ear canal like an earbud. It rests comfortably and lightly on your ear if you just put it on naturally. I have had no problems with sound, and people have told me that I sound clear and undistorted. My favorite part about it is the mute button that is perfectly sized and conveniently located on the earpiece. It’s easy to just push the mute button so others playing online only hear you when you want them to.
